Easy Bread Rolls

These easy bread rolls use banana flour so they are gluten free. They are great eaten with butter and jam or as an accompaniment to soup.


• 150g of Banana flour
• 1/4tsp of salt
• 20g of sugar
• 1tsp yeast
• 250ml warm water
• 2tbsp olive oil

Bread Roll


  • Preheat the oven to 180C
  • Mix the yeast into the lukewarm water and add the sugar. Cover with a damp cloth and leave it in a warm place for 10 minutes.
  • Put the flour and salt in a mixer (or a roomy bowl if ding by hand), make a well in the middle and pour in the yeast/water mixture. Knead it for about 10 minutes either by hand or machine.
  • Put the dough in a well oiled bowl and cover with cling film to prevent it forming a crust.
  • Leave it to prove in a warm place for 30 minutes
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape into rolls.
  • Put them on a greased baking tray and cover loosely with cling film
  • Leave it in a warm place to 10 minutes
  • Mix the egg and milk together and use a pastry brush to glaze the rolls
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or other seeds
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven for 15 - 20 minutes
Bread Roll with Jam

Serve warm.  You can also enjoy these easy bread rolls when they have cooled completely.
Store them in an airtight container to preserve freshness.
